About the Camp

Camp Facilities

Camp Challenge is held at The Louisiana Lions Camp. The Lions Camp is an approved site of the American Camping Association. The Camp Challenge program has been accredited by A.C.A. and will be administered in accordance with A.C.A. standards. These standards govern all aspects of health, safety, site, personnel, administration, and program. A.C.A. ACCREDITATION IS YOUR ASSURANCE OF QUALITY CAMPING

Staff

The Camp Challenge staff is selected by the Camp Director. Our staff members are hired based on knowledge, experience, and skill and our processes meet the standard requirements of the American Camp Association.

Food

Ample, well-balanced meals are planned by the kitchen staff and served in the dining hall. This includes daily snacks. We ask that you don’t send any food or drink with your child to camp. All meals include a salad and sandwich bar.

Units

Campers are grouped based on their age and development. Campers reside in air conditioned buildings with staff members present at all times. Bathrooms and showers are located within the buildings or nearby. The camp administration monitors safety and cleanliness in all buildings at all times.

Counselors-In-Training (C.I.T.'S) (Ages 15-17)

Our C.I.T. program is intended to smooth over the transition from a camper to a counselor/staff member. C.I.T.’s will be asked to help with camp skills, organize camp activities, help counselors with the campers, and help set up dining hall for meals among other tasks. C.I.T.’s will be supervised by the C.I.T. Coordinators.

Water Front

All waterfront areas are supervised by certified lifeguards at all times. Campers have the opportunity to enjoy swimming in the pool, as well as canoeing or paddle boats on Lake Vernon. All campers are tested at the beginning of camp and must pass a swim test to swim in the deep end of the pool.
